Karnataka: Congress holds convention against Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje

The state Congress dared PM Modi to demonstrate his commitment to probity

Bengaluru: Demanding the resignation of external affairs minister, Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan chief minister, Vasundhara Raje, the state Congress on Wednesday dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to demonstrate his commitment to probity and display his conscience by taking action against the two leaders.

KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwar, while addressing a convention held at Freedom Park ridiculed the BJP’s tall claims that it was a party with difference. Dr Parameshwar went a step ahead and demanded that Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley who was associated with BCCI, should disclose his association with Lalit Modi who is facing charges of misappropriation when he was associated with IPL.

“How could Ms Swaraj, as foreign minister, help a fugitive? This is gross impropriety. She has to resign immediately. Similarly, Lalit Modi who invested in the firm owned by Raje’s son should explain the origin of these funds. Is this Hawala money? Let there be an independent inquiry. If both are cleared of charges they can come back,” Dr Parameshwar said.

Taking a dig at former chief minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy’s meeting with BJP national vice president B.S. Yeddyurappa, Dr Parameshwar said the same Yeddyurappa went around the state claiming that Mr Kumaraswamy had betrayed him. “No one knows when these two become friends and when they will fall out. But people know better so they will not trust both of them,” he said.

Reiterating the party’s stand, Dr Parameshwar said that the party was ready to face the BBMP elections. “The programmes given by the CM would help us capture BBMP. People remember very well how BJP looted when they were in power in the BBMP. They presented a cumulative budget of Rs 45,000 crore, but spent only Rs 17,000 crore. Where did the remaining amount go? They have to explain to the people.”
