Thiruvananthapuram: In a move to counter the high voltage campaign of actor Suresh Gopi, the Congress on Wednesday brought in their star campaigner cine actor Kushboo for the campaigning in Aruvikkara. Kushboo addressed a well attended election meeting in Aryanad during her short trip to the constituency.
Earlier at a press conference she said despite being in rival camps she maintained good relationship with Suresh Gopi. “We are close friends and the campaigning will not come in the way of our friendship,” she added.
She said south India was known for film star turned politicians and there was nothing new in political parties bringing in actors for campaigning. When asked whether she expected a bright future for Suresh Gopi ? She evaded a direct reply but said that it was for the people to decide.
On the possibility of CPM – Congress tie up in West Bengal, the actor said; “please wait and watch. We cannot say anything at this stage.” When asked about the solar scam and bribe case, she said that the chief minister had taken strict action against his staff who was involved in wrong doings and also the court had convicted the solar scam accused because of effective investigations.
Kushboo’s entry into the electoral campaign scene galvanised the Congress cadres who were feeling a bit down after the high profile campaign for Suresh Gopi for the BJP and actor Innocent for the LDF.
