Opposition only politicising Thangadagi issue: KPCC

Dr G clarified that the Congress high command had not sought any reports on the issue

Bengaluru: KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar on Monday announced that he had sought reports from the Koppal District Congress unit on the role of minor irrigation minister, Shivaraj Thangadagi in shielding those who allegedly killed Yella Linga, a whistleblower from Koppal who tried to raise the issue of corruption in MNREGA scheme.

Dr Parameshwar clarified that the Congress high command had not sought any reports on the issue. “We have to look into this issue legally. Naturally, the opposition will try to politicise the issue and gain mileage. The government has ordered a CID probe. So, till the report comes in, the minister should not be made the victim of a vilification campaign,” he said.

Due to some technical reasons, the Karnataka government could not arrange the dues they owe to farmers including those who cultivate sugarcane. “Opposition parties are politicising the issue. Karnataka government is the only state which ensures the highest returns to farmers. So, there is no point in politicising the issue,” he said.
