Telangana government to issue health cards to journalists

Mr Rao asked officials to finalise the modalities for issuing health cards

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will issue health cards and media accreditation cards to journalists within a month. The health cards will be on par with that of state government employees.

IT minister K.T. Rama Rao on Monday held a meeting with officials of health, finance and I&PR departments to resolve issues concerning journalists. Journalist union leaders brought to the notice of the minister that several journalists were facing hardships due to lack of health insurance and some journalists had died during the last one year as they could not afford costly medical treatment.

They pointed out that there has been severe delay in issuing health cards to journalists. Mr Rao asked officials to finalise the modalities for issuing health cards at the earliest. He also asked the media accreditation committee to hold a meeting on June 24 to finalise the modalites for issuing cards.
