Hamid Ansari not invited due to protocol

Opposition accused the BJP of playing “divisive politics” over Yoga Day
New Delhi: Union minister of state Sripad Naik, whose Ayush ministry was in charge of organising the Yoga Day celebrations, said, “Unknowingly, something happens, we apologise for that. It should have been avoided. It’s a mistake, he (Ram Madhav) agrees, he apologised. He withdrew his statement.”
He also tried to clarify the protocol issue, saying when the PM is the chief guest, “inviting the vice-president is not proper.”
“That’s why we did not send the invite to him. The President and the Vice-President are above the PM in the order of precedence,” the minister added.
The Vice-President’s office said the matter was closed for them as Mr Naik’s statement “seems logical”. It added: “For us, that's the end of the matter.” The Opposition accused the BJP of playing “divisive politics” over Yoga Day.
