Easy access apps for citizens

For example, apps like traffic buddy, hawk eye etc. are already seeing huge response from users

Hyderabad: The wide reach of mobile phones and smartphones allows a greater reach for the government’s targeted policies and initiatives to the end users.

While there are examples of citizen-friendly apps developed by departments like traffic and police that are already in use in the twin cities, bringing governance on the mobile platform will mean easy access for citizens as well as an easy interface between citizens and government, and businesses and government.

Apart from mobile apps being developed by the IT department, almost all government departments and agencies with IT wings are working on developing individual citizen interfaces to enhance connectivity with the end users. For example, apps like traffic buddy, hawk eye etc. are already seeing huge response from users.

The transition from e-governance to mobile governance, meanwhile, is a time consuming process as the apps have to go through a testing phase since supporting a large number of users can be a challenge.

Hence apps that expect heavy access take two to three years to be developed. The mee seva app for example, is expected to integrate 300 services of various departments over a three years period. It will be launched shortly.
