Jayalalithaa to campaign in RK Nagar on June 22

AIADMK chief will also address two public meetings

Chennai: AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa will hit the campaign trail on June 22 in Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency here from where she is seeking election to the Assembly again. The by-poll is scheduled for June 27. An AIADMK press release said that during her one-day campaigning she will also address two public meetings.

Ms Jayalalithaa will kickstart her campaign from MGR statue near petrol bunk and proceed to Kasimedu, Surya Narayana Chetty Street, Veeraraghavan Road, Tiruvottiyur High Road, Cross Road junction and Arunachaleswarar Temple Street. She will also campaign on Ennore High Road near the railway level crossing and Ezhil Nagar in Manali Road.

She will address public meetings at the Tiruvottiyur High Road junction and Ennore High Road junction. Jayalalithaa has set up a 50-member election committee, which includes 28 ministers, to work for the party’s victory. She is pitted against 27 candidates, including senior CPI leader C. Mahendran and social activist 'Traffic’ Ramaswamy. By-election in the constituency located in North Chennai was due to the resignation of AIADMK’s P. Vetrivel on May 17 to enable Ms.Jayalalithaa to get elected to the legislature.
