Chandrababu Naidu’s application for building permission rejected because of height violations

Hyderabad: GHMC sources said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s application for a building permission was returned because of certain violations with regard to the height of the building. However, a close aide of Mr Naidu said the building plan had been approved by the GHMC’s chief city planner, but was still returned. He attributed it to “political vendetta”.

Mr Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh had submitted the building plan for construction of a residential building at in Survey No. 12 (New) of Shaikpet (V) at Road No. 65, Jubilee Hills, Co-operative Housing Society, Hyderabad.

The GHMC observed that the height of the building violated norms. It also added that the applicant (Mr Naidu) had started construction work without prior permission.The proposal was, therefore, returned without permission on June 16, 2015. The GHMC said the application was not pending with it. The corporation also said there was no relation between the rejection of the application and payment of property tax for the AP Secretariat building.

The AP government owes Rs 20 crore towards property tax for 2014-15. “The GHMC has been after the AP government to pay the amount,” an official said. However, a close aide of Mr Naidu, said, “The building plan was submitted through proper channels adhering to the bye-laws. Three officers — the assistant city planner, deputy city planner and chief city planner — had approved it. The file went to the commissioner and was returned.”

He said the GHMC town planning staff had inspected the house several times and taken measurements. “We are ready to rectify any deviations and modify the plan. It is unfair to delay the file for so many days,” he said.
