AAP MLAs including CM Arvind Kejriwal under Delhi police scanner

Kejriwal alone faces 47 charges in 15 cases pending against him

New Delhi: After former Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar’s arrest in the fake certificate case, the Delhi police is all set to speed up the legal process in a large number of cases pending against chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, transport minister Gopal Rai, speaker Ram Niwas Goel, deputy speaker Bandana Kumari and 17 other AAP legislators.

The list also includes three former ministers, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Rakhi Birla and Somnath Bharati. The move invoked a sharp reaction from the AAP, which attacked the Centre, saying it was maligning the party’s 21 MLAs through the Delhi police.

They asked what will be the fate of 31 per cent of BJP MPs who are now facing criminal charges, according to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms. Mr Kejriwal alone faces 47 charges in 15 cases pending against him in different police stations. The charges range from causing hurt to obstructing public servants from performing their duties, rioting and defamation.
