No word on Telangana fee reimbursement

The government had introduced the FAST scheme

Hyderabad: With the TS Eamcet counselling on the horizon, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar has not yet finalised the guideliens to the fee reimbursement scheme.

The Kadiam Srihari committee had submitted its recommendations to the Chief Minister last week. Certificate verification will begin for the TS Eamcet from June 18.

Fee reimbursement was the bone of contention last year as well, as a result of which Eamcet counselling was delayed. The government had introduced the FAST scheme which was later scrapped following criticism from different quarters including the High Court.

The TS government reverted to the old fee reimbursement scheme but also initiated a process to frame fresh guidelines. There is now uncertainty about who will be eligible for fee reimbursement. It is unlikely that the government will continue with the pre-bifurcation guidelines. There are indications that ceiling may be imposed.

“Unless the government tells us whether we are eligible or not, we can’t decide where to admit our children. Depending on how much help I can get from the government, I can decide where to admit my child,” said Mr P. Chandrasekhar, a parent.
