The supply staff had been transferred two weeks ago and the post was vacant
Chennai: A fair price shop at Parthasarathy Nagar in Adambakkam here witnessed tense moments, after a few women slapped a shop employee.
The shop on 8th street witnessed heavy crowd on Monday, as it was the first week of the month. Supplying the material was delayed as Revathy was the only staff member in the shop. She had to do the billing and supply the commodities. This led to an argument leading to a few women allegedly slapping Ms Revathi.
Enraged, she closed the shop and approached the office of the assistant commissioner (AC) of civil supplies at Alandur along with the staff of nearby ration shops. Since the AC was not in office, they filed a complaint with the Adambakkam police. The police promised to take action.

Soundar Rani said the supply staff had been transferred two weeks ago and the post was vacant. The authorities had been addressed in the matter .
