Telangana spectacle ends in razzle-dazzle

Breathtaking feats, colourful fireworks mark occasion

Hyderabad: Tank Bund turned into a sea of humanity on Sunday as thousands of people from all parts of Telangana descended to take part in the closing ceremony of the first anniversary of TS Formation Day celebrations.

A huge rally “Telangana Shobha Yatra” was organised from People’s Plaza, Necklace Road to Tank Bund in which ministers and other public representatives took part along with thousands of people. The venue became a melting pot of colour, culture, lights, display of sentiments and echoing celebrations.

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao took part in the event along with their family members.

Thousands thronged the venue to view the attractions on display. One of the most eye catching attractions were the dazzling display of laser lights and fire crackers which lit up the night sky adding beauty to the already decked up Tank Bund.

Another attraction were the remote controlled LED kites flying near the Buddha Statue which caught everyone’s imagination as the kites are new to India and not many know about them.

The celebrations included a small parade by a marching band of three different battalions of the state police, various performances by cultural artistes and a motorcade of the state police. During the parade, Mr Rao’s happiness was visible as he himself got up to distribute laddus to those on stage who included the Governor, his wife and the CM’s wife along with other dignitaries.

Telangana’s brand ambassador, Sania Mirza was the special attraction, who also came on to the dais to whom the CM offered laddu. Music added more fun to the celebrations as people who came to the venue not just from Hyderabad but also from nearby districts danced to the beats and waved to the CM, expressing their joy. The CM waved back. The show which went on for two hours enthralled the public with popular songs and performances by Telangana dhoom dhaam artistes led by TRS MLA and popular T-artist Rasamayi Balakishan.
