Firms tie up with event managers

Hyderabad: Valet parking is turning out to be the latest business. Be it events, clubs, weddings, conferences, the organisers need valet parking. Small-time businessmen and hired part-time drivers take up a day’s or week’s contract. The budget is based on the crowd and event size. Valet parking firms also tie-up with wedding planners and event management firms uses as it is one of the most important arrangements.
There are a dozen valet parking service firms in the twin cities which also provide drivers and vehicles on hire. Their business is active throughout the year thanks to the many government and private events. On many occasions managers fall short of valet drivers and hire from these firms. Many hospitals are also thinking of providing outsourced valet parking service.
Ms Meher Aria, a city-based wedding planner said, “It is very important for the simple reason that even hotels and big venues that already have regularised parking in place do suggest additional valet services to make the flow of traffic smooth. In fact hotels are making it a part of the contract with the client to ensure that additional outside valet services are appointed. Hotels realise that they will not be able to handle the events and will need additional help. Even house parties that have more than 100 guests hire valet parking services.”
The charging depends on the number of drivers and the duration of the event. “Security is mainly the venue provider’s responsibility. However, the client and event management firm should ensure that they appoint reputed agencies. It is convenient for people especially for owner driven cars. Otherwise guests would have to park their vehicles far away. Valet parking service providers are an organised bunch. No security concerns so far,” added Ms Dinaz, who is a city-based wedding planner.
