Job panel rejects forest department proposal

The TSPSC officials turned it down citing ‘wrong method’ of selection of candidates

ADILABAD: The Telangana State Public Service Commission, for the first time since its formation, has rejected a file regarding proposal on recruitment of field staff in the forest department.

The TSPSC officials turned it down citing ‘wrong method’ of selection of candidates. The forest department has proposed to conduct the written test first and physical test later as against the usual practice of the physical test being conducted first. It is learnt that the TSPSC members and chairman are being extra cautious about the examinations as they fear the ire of the unemployed youth just in case anything goes wrong.

The members feel the forest department’s proposal would give a chance for anomalies in the process. They feel the forest officials will select candidates according to their wish, once the candidates clear the written examination.

According to TSPSC sources, the members took up the file for scrutiny sent by the department and rejected the method of recruitment proposed for recruitment of forest beat officer, assistant beat officer and forest section officer.

The forest department is planning to fill up posts that have been lying vacant for a long time. The TPSC members opine that even in the Army, it is the physical fitness test which is conducted first. The members even took the issue to the notice of minister for forests and environment Jogu Ramanna.
