Bomb making will not be allowed: Ramesh Chennithala

The CPM should learn from such incidents and ask their workers to refrain from the bomb-making activities

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Responding to the bomb blast which claimed the lives of two Communist Part of India (Marxist) workers in Panur, Kannur, on Saturday, home minister Ramesh Chennithala said that bomb manufacturing in the CPM stronghold would not be allowed anymore.

He was talking to media persons on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the first class cricket stadium constructed by Kerala Cricket Association at SD College ground.

“The CPM should learn from such incidents and ask their workers to refrain from the bomb-making activities. The DGP has been entrusted to look into the matter,” he said. He did not divulge further details about Saturday’s incident.

Welfare Party flays bomb culture
Meanwhile, the Welfare Party of India on Saturday condemned the bomb culture being promoted by some political parties in the state and warned that such activities would vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in Kearla.

In a statement, Welfare Party of India president Hamid Vaniambalam alleged that a prominent political party like the CPM with such huge social responsibility indulging in destructive activities was a challenge to the rule of law in the state. This was not an isolated incident. “Prior to the last elections, five Youth League activists died in a similar fashion in Nadapuram,” he said.

Similarly, workers of the BJP and RSS have also lost their lives during such activities,” he said. He said the CPM, Congress, Muslim League and BJP were collecting bombs and arms in huge numbers in their strongholds, especially in the Malabar region. He said the Welfare Party of India will launch a campaign soon for peace and tranquility in Kannur.
