Slum-free Hyderabad in two years, promises CM K Chandrasekhar Rao

The registration value of the land is Rs 10,000 crore

Hyderabad: Accusing the previous government in undivided Andhra Pradesh of bulldozing huts belonging to the poor while giving large chunks of land to race course, golf course, clubs etc, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday asserted that the TRS government will change the course of history and build two bedroom houses for poor.

The CM launched the scheme for distribution of pattas to 1.25 lakh poor out of the 3.36 lakh applications who sought regularisation of houses built on 125 square yards of land in Hyderabad and other parts of state as per the GO 58 at a function in Malkajgiri.

“It’s a memorable day today. In Hyderabad alone one lakh pattas are being given. The registration value of the land is Rs 10,000 crore. We received 3.36 lakh applications from the poor across the state. But nearly two lakh are pending as they are caught in court cases, some are shikam, endowment, wakf, private lands. We will clear all such cases and give pattas to all applicants,” the CM said.

He added that the government will make Hyderabad a slum free city in two years and provide houses for free to poor. He also took a dig at previous Congress government for uprooting the poor.

“In Hyderabad, about 2 lakh people are living in slums and have huts and other temporary sheds. We will replace them with two bedroom houses in a phased manner,” he said. He warned that the state will take action against those uprooting houses of poor.

“100 acres given to Hyderabad Race Course, 1,000 acres for Golf Course and huge tracts of lands to clubs and others. Congress demolished houses of poor at Bheemraowada in Nampally while a former PCC chief uprooted poor for his factory in Warangal. But this government is pro poor and we will provide houses at any cost,” he remarked.

KCR asserted that the government target can be achieved with 50,000 to one lakh double bed room houses per annum if the locality youth and the local legislators identify beneficiaries and extend support to the government staff.

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao distributed patta certificates to eligible poor in Sangareddy of Medak district.
