Chandy sanctions more than Rs 6.68 cr to applicants at mass contact

Thrissur: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy sanctioned more than Rs 6.68 crore to the applicants from his Relief Fund during his Mass Contact Programme “Karuthal—2015” held at Thekkinkadu Maidan here on Thursday.

As many as 12, 460 applications were received and the program was continuing late into evening, an official release said.

The chief minister announced an IT park at Mulankunnathukavu. He also said that the construction of a flyover at Padinjarekotta and Railway over-bridge at Guruvayur will start immediately.

Minister C N Balakrishnan and legislators Therambil Ramakrishnan and P A Madhavan also attended the programme along with people’s representatives and political leaders.

The chief minister personally attended to 112 complaints from the people who were officially invited after a filtering process.

A venue with the seating capacity of 10,000 was arranged, along with food and water, and 1,000 police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order in and around the venue.
