Papanasam completed in a record 40 days

Movie is slated to release in mid July, only a few weeks before the Hindi version

Papanasam, a remake of Malayalam hit film Drishyam, will be Kamal Haasan’s next release. Jeetu Joseph, who directed the original, roped in Gauthami, who is acting with Kamal in a movie after a long time. Sources say that despite having a busy star like Kamal Haasan in the lead, the film, produced by Wideangle Creations and Rajkumar Theaters, was completed in a record time of 40 days.

When contacted, Suresh Balaji, one of the producers, confirmed the news. “It was possible only because of Kamal sir. He had immense faith in the director and there was complete understanding between him and Jeetu. So, at no point was there a conflict, making our work easier.”

We hear that the movie is slated to release in mid July, only a few weeks before the Hindi version of the film which stars Ajay Devgan and Shriya Saran. “It was a planned move. The movie is yet to be submitted to the censor board. We are waiting for Jeetu who is shooting a Malayalam film in New Zealand to return. We also feel that June is not a good time for a big film’s release. Since July 17 happens to be the Ramzan holiday weekend, it would be appropriate to release Papanasam around that time,” he adds.
