Telangana Congress slams Telugu Desam, TRS practices

KCR is encouraging defections into his party to make it stronger, says Congress

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders have lambasted the one year rule of K. Chandrasekhar Rao government calling it undemocratic and encouraging unhealthy practices.

The Congress will continue its fight against such autocratic functioning. They also condemned the TD MLA Revanth Reddy’s ‘cash-for-vote’ episode and at the same time demanded a probe by reputed national investigating agencies into the various inducements offered by the TRS leadership in forcibly admitting several Opposition MLAs into the party.

At a separate media interaction, Leaders of Opposition in the Assembly and Legislative Council, K. Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and working president, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka slammed the efforts of the ruling TRS in mustering additional strength by openly encouraging defections of MLAs and even offering several sops as quite disgusting. Instead of concentrating on development and welfare activities of the neglected Telangana state, K. Chandrasekhar Rao has resorted to encouraging defections from day one as Chief Minister.

“Today it is Revanth Reddy caught who was caught red-handed in the ‘cash-for-vote’ episode, but we are sure the CM will also be caught one day. It is better he rules carefully,” Congress leaders warned. They said “We strongly condemn what Revanth Reddy has done. We equally condemn the Chief Minister who has been encouraging defections in other parties to satisfy his hunger for power.”

They further said every defection conceals a different story. It is not so simple that the legislators of Congress, TD, YSRC or BSP met the CM and asked him to induct them into the party.

While some went for money or favours, others went for ministerial berths or other posts, they added. Referring to the Revanth Reddy episode, the Congress leaders said, “AP Chief Minister and TD chief N. Chandrababu Naidu is directly responsible for the ‘cash-for-vote’ episode. He gave long lectures for three days at Mahanadu on morals and ethics. But within hours after conclusion of the event, he swallowed his own words and tried to bribe one MLA. This is highly condemnable.”
