Road network to be complete in 2 years

Mr Sharma opined that development of quality roads would boost gross domestic product
KARIMNAGAR: Roads and buildings department principal secretary Sunil Sharma said that construction of all road networks of the state would be completed by next two years. He opined that development of quality roads would boost gross domestic product of the country. He was speaking to pressmen after verifying Global Positioning System, GPS-based inspections of quality of roads erected in Karimnagar district on Friday.
Mr Sharma said that the digital mode of quality inspection was being introduced for the first time in Karimnagar. Quality of roads and its life would be computerised with the help of modern method. This will help reduction of additional expenses involved in construction of a road network, he stated.
“Similarly, consumption of fuel can be decreased if we have quality roads. This will reduce financial burden of a motorist, ultimately resulting in growth of gross domestic product. Better quality roads never cause traffic snarls,” he felt, adding, the department was undertaking 26 works at an estimated cost of Rs 135 crore with regard to arrangements for Godavari Puskaralu slated to be held in July.
The principal secretary said that formation of roads was being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 9,000 crore. This formation will be completed within two years. Further, 5,000 km-long road networks were identified for sapling plants to its either sides as part of Harita Haram aimed to increase green cover in the state.
