CM Jayalalithaa inaugurates 63 sub-stations through video conferencing

Sub stations were built across the state at a cost of Rs 2,154 crore

Chennai: Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday inaugurated 63 sub stations built across the state at a cost of Rs 2,154 crore through video conferencing. An official release said that new substations were set up to cut down transmission loss and also to ensure quality supply of power to the consumers even during the peak demand. The new and additional sub stations were setup to meet the growing demand. It said that with the steps taken by the state government, about 4991 MW additional generation capacity has been added to the state grid.

“After many years, uninterrupted power supply has been provided to the domestic consumers,” it said. Electricity minister Natham R. Viswanathan, chief secretary K. Gnanadesikan, energy department secretary Rajesh Lakhoni and Tangedco chairman and managing director M. Sai Kumar were present during the inauguration.
