Chennai: With less than five days left for engineering aspirants to submit their application forms for government’s single window counselling, Anna University has sold 1.87 lakh application forms. Anna University has received 80,000 filled-in application forms so far. The last date for sale of application form at centres except at Anna University, Chennai is May 27and at Anna University, forms will be sold till May 29. Students can submit their filled-in forms till May 29.
Asked about the trend this year, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) secretary Prof V. Rhymend Uthariaraj said that they witnessed a similar trend last year too. “We still have five days more for the last date for submission. We expect more forms to be submitted and the final tally will be available on May 29,” he said.
Last year 2.15 lakh students purchased application forms from Anna University centres across the state and about 1.8 lakh students submitted forms for counselling. Anna University conducts counselling for 538 government, government aided, private engineering colleges, apart from the university run constituent colleges with a total intake of 2.11 lakh seats. General counselling is likely to start on July 1and come to a close on July 31.
