THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The polygraph test result of Biju Ramesh’s driver Ambili became public on Tuesday causing further embarrassment to Finance Minister K. M. Mani.
It revealed that Ambili’s replies were truthful in 13 out of the 15 questions put to him with regard to the allegation that Rs. 35 lakh was handed over to Mr. Mani at his residence on the Cliff House compound here.
The two questions in which forensic experts could not make a significant inference were with regard to Ambili collecting a packet containing Rs. 35 lakh from the house of bar owner Sreevalsan, the friend of Kerala Bar Hotel Owners’ Association president Rajkumar Unni.
According to the polygraph report, Ambili replied positively to all questions on the collection of funds from various bar owners in Thiruvanathapuram on April 1, 2014, and handing over a packet containing Rs. 35 lakh by Rajkumar Unni to Mr Mani at his official residence on Cliff House compound the next day.
The packet containing cash was kept at Sreevalsan’s house and as per Unni’s instruction, Ambili went to Sreevalsan’s house and collected it and handed it over to Unni.
Ambili replied ‘yes’ to the questions whether he went to Sreevalsan’s house as per the instruction of Unni to collect the packet and whether it was the same cover containing cash that he had brought from Sreevalsan's house.
The forensic expert who conducted the polygraph said in the report that no significant inference could be drawn on the results of these two questions.
The polygraph test report’s copy was obtained by Ambili’s lawyer from the court on Tuesday.
The bar owners from whom the money was collected included Sunil alias China Sunil, Surendran alias Yahama Surendran and Sun Beam hotel manager Gopan.
Meanwhile, the Vigilance court rejected the willingness expressed by Biju Ramesh's friend Mohammed Rafeeq to undergo a polygraph test claiming that he had witnessed the handing over of bribe to Excise Minister K. Babu’s personal staff.
