Miya George is the kind of girl who leaves a lasting impression on you. Her smile is contagious, just like her positive vibes. From supporting roles in television serials to the lead roles on the silver screen, her career switch has been all about following her heart.

The 23-year-old girl is a highly professional, confident and dedicated actor. Even while getting ready for an ad shoot, she answers our call and says a happy ‘Yes’ to the interview she had promised the previous evening. Juggling with her make-up brushes, she puts her mobile phone on loudspeaker mode and says that everything is a learning process and that she loves having new experiences every day. “I am an enthusiastic person who believes that a lost chance will never return. Hence, I enjoy doing everything that comes my way,” says the doe-eyed beauty.

She elaborates enthusiastically, narrating her experiences of the recent trip to Lakshadweep. She was there shooting for scriptwriter Sachi’s directorial debut, Anarkali. “It was the first time I am going to an island for a shoot and I had 45 fantastic days there. Everything was new for me — the place, climate, people, their culture and even the cuisines. Being a fish lover, I did enjoy the fresh and soft tuna that was served!” she goes on effusively.

For Miya, scuba diving at one of the most popular locations in India was the most thrilling experience in Lakshadweep. “It was really an exciting adventure. The entire crew of Anarkali tried it. I think, once in a lifetime, everyone should get to feel the crystal clear water and see the paradise underneath,” says the actress excitedly. Though it was a bit hotter than Kerala, she did take every chance she got to stroll along the beaches, savouring the freedom.

“After a long time, I was walking freely, enjoying the breeze as no one recognised me there!” she quips. She also expressed her happiness at having ‘zero sea sickness’ on the boat when traveling to and from the island. “I felt a bit uneasy on the second day of our journey. After that the ride was really smooth.”

In Anarkali, Miya plays Sherin Mathew, a doctor working in Kavarathi. “Prithviraj and I have more scenes together in this film than in Memories. He is an incredible human being. Very friendly, supportive and what I love about acting with him are the tips he gives to improve one’s acting. It really helps me to improve my acting,” he says.

Miya is lucky she is able to act with both senior actors like Mohanlal, Jayaram, Prithviraj and Kunchako Boban and actors like Govind Padmasurya. “Sharing screen space with actors who have tremendous experience actually gives you amazing opportunities to learn. Similarly, acting alongside people like GP is also fun. Each person teaches you something!” she says with a smile.

The actress, who entered Kollywood through Amara Kaaviyam in 2014, had captured the hearts of Tamilians with her girl-next-door looks and acting. Currently, she has two more Tamil projects Indru Netru Naalai, which will be released in June, and Oru Naal Koothu, which is currently being filmed. “I did not find any big difference in the acting style in Mollywood and Kollywod. I feel acting is a universal language that goes beyond borders. It is a bit bigger industry than M-Town and the working pattern of technicians is totally different. However, I enjoy it!” she sums up.
