Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri districts get six Amma Canteens

Women who are members of 24 livelihood groups were given training to run the canteens

Krishnagiri/Dharmapuri: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on Sunday inaugurated Amma Canteens – four in Krishnagiri district and two in Dharmapuri district. She declared open the canteens through video conferencing from Chennai. In Krishnagiri, the Amma Canteens are constructed close to farmers market in Bharathiyar Nagar and another one near the district headquarters hospital at a cost of Rs 24.90 lakh.

In addition, Rs 19.40 lakh was spent for other infrastructure.The two canteens, one close to the bus stand and another near the government hospital in Hosur, were constructed at the cost of Rs 49 lakh. Also Rs 19 lakh will be spent for cooking utensils and another Rs 19 lakh for constructing a compound wall.

The women who are the members of 24 livelihood groups were given training to run the canteens. In Dharmapuri, two Amma Unavagams - one each at the town bus stand and Dharmapuri government medical college and hospital - were constructed at a cost of Rs25 lakh each.
