Chennai corporation Mayor Saidai S. Duraisamy distributed free supply of food in all the 203 Amma Unavagams in Chennai. The Mayor spent from his own pocket, for this. Sources say the new Chief Minister will inaugurate an additional 208 Amma canteens, each in every division, either on Sunday or Monday.
While 45 canteens are already waiting for inauguration, the construction work in the rest of the buildings that are in various stages of construction has been speeded up.
