Telangana: Monster dad raped, killed 15-year-old tribal girl

Man himself injured his head and made a story that unknown people attacked him

Hyderabad: In an inhuman act, a father has turned out to be the rapist and killer of his own daughter. The murder mystery of a 15-year old tribal girl, who was found dead on the outskirts of Bantwaram mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Friday, took a new turn, with her father Megavath Kamal confessing to the Ranga Reddy police, during interrogation.

“We started the probe based on technical aspects. We verified the records of mobile towers surrounding the area, where the incident happened, but could not get clue. The dog squad also could not find any clue. The dog could only go till the nearby tandas and come back to the place. We summoned nearly 33 autorickshaw drivers of Vikarabad. But none of these efforts yielded any result,” said M. Srinivas, SP, Ranga Reddy district.

The police grew suspicious, when her father gave different versions regarding the incident. According to the girl’s father in his complaint, the attackers injured him and he fell unconscious. After regaining his senses, he and his family searched the whole night for the girl and found her body on Friday morning.

During interrogation, he said that he fell down and was hurt. But he got up and chased the attackers. Since his moped didn’t have good pick-up, he failed to catch them. And immediately, he approached the police.

The man himself injured his head and made up a story that unknown people attacked him and abducted his daughter in an autorickshaw and later raped and murdered her on the outskirts of Bantwaram village.

The police and the family also believed his story. They were not suspicious because he fell on his daughter’s body and wept. Suspecting his behaviour and his different versions, the police interrogated both the parents of the girl.

“He gave different versions each time and they did not match. Later during interrogation, he confessed that he raped and killed his daughter,” added Mr Srinivas.
According to the family members of the girl, the character of the accused was dubious.

“He always took the girl out at night. Many times, we told him to stop it, but he never changed his attitude. He was not a good person, but we never thought he would resort to such a heinous act,” said the girl’s grandmother. Further investigation is in process and the police are trying to get more details.
