BJP to use ‘damaad’ weapon to counter Congress

Both BJP and Congress are readying for war on NDA’s 1-year completion
New Delhi: With Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing one year in power on May 26, the war between the Congress-led Opposition and the BJP is all set to intensify. While the Congress, now led by Rahul Gandhi, has decided to relentlessly attack the Modi government on all fronts, the BJP will be targeting the Congress scion and dynasty and the “crorepati damaad” (read Robert Vadra) to expose its so-called doublespeak.
At the same time, the BJP appears to be going soft on both Trinamul chief Mamata Banerjee and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar of the JD(U). Giving an indication of this, BJP leaders said that “Mamata’s attacking Modi was merely a response to Modi attacking Mamata during the Lok Sabha polls”. They also claimed that “Nitish Kumar has not made any attack on Modi so far”.
When asked whether the BJP was looking at the option of joining hands with its old allies — the JD(U) and Trinamool, both of which have in the past been part of the NDA, the saffron leaders officially denied any such move. Sources, however, said that after its drubbing in the Delhi polls, the BJP was ready to look at all possible options.
A senior BJP leader said Saradha scam was one of the BJP’s main ammunition against the ruling party in West Bengal. But the BJP Bengal unit seems to be refraining from the issue due to the ‘new-found’ friendship between BJP and Trinamool.
