From art direction to donning the grease paint

Art director Kiran has taken an avatar of a full time actor

After art director Veerasamar who turned towards acting, Kiran has followed in his footsteps. Having started as an art director in ad commercials and TV serials, Kiran’s talents came to limelight when KV Anand lured him for his blockbuster Ko a few years back. Now, after making a mark with his innovative visuals in movies like 3, Mayakkam Enna, Anegan, Irandam Ulagam, Kiran who used to show his face in small roles in films has taken an avatar of a full time actor.

His small yet noticeable baddie role in Anegan has fetched him handful of films. Quiz him about his future films, he says with a smile, “Since, I started with a negative role, I am getting similar characters. I am essaying a powerful villain in Vishal’s Paayum Puli which is directed by Suseendhiran. Similarly, in Jiiva’s movie Thirunaal, it’s sort of negative role.”

Kiran is happy that he got a meaty character in Vijay Sethupathi’s next with Nalan Kumarsamy. And looks like he will be a regular in Dhanush’s future films as well. Kiran says he would like to maintain a balance between art direction and acting. “I definitely want to continue art direction which is highly creative and challenging. The success of art direction lies in the theory that it should be so realistic that it gets unnoticed. Now that I am busy in acting, I want to space out my films in art department.”
