Chennai: The city police on Sunday booked Y.G. Harshavardhana, 30, son of actor Y.Gee. Mahendra and nephew of Rajinikanth’s wife Latha, for test flying a drone without getting the mandatory police permission. The city police had made it compulsory from last January onwards to get permission before anybody flies an unmanned aerial vehicle after a drone with a camera on board flew out of control and fell on a sunbathing foreign national on a hotel terrace in MRC Nagar. Harshavardhana was found flying the UAV in Foreshore Estate Sunday morning.
Harshavardhana’s drone has been seized. He was booked under three IPC sections of 188 (disobeying a order promulgated by a public servant), 287 (negligent conduct with machine) and 336 (endangering personal safety of others). Though the police booked him he was later allowed to go on his own personal bail. According to the police, Harsha who runs an animation film studio, had purchased the China made drone from Singapore and was trying to fly it at the Foreshore Estate beach when police noticed it.
