Two years of Siddaramaiah government: Congress to celebrate in Davangere

Congress party will host a massive rally at Davangere on May 16

Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Dr G. Parameshwar on Wednesday declared that the Congress party will host a massive rally at Davangere on May 16 to celebrate the completion of two years in office by the Siddaramaiah government.

Speaking to reporters after a brief meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here, Dr Parameshwar said, “The state government has fulfilled almost 90 of the 160 assurances made in our party manifesto, ahead of the 2013 Assembly elections. It’s time for celebration and to spread the message to all that the Congress party has fulfilled its promises.”

Giving full credit to Mr Siddaramaiah and his team for performing better despite several hiccups, Dr Parameshwar said, “We have given good governance which was the first and foremost promise. We need to convey this to our party cadre as well as to people across the state.

“We have zeroed in on Davangere as a place to host this massive event. We chose Davangere as it is a central district in the state and logistically viable to gather a huge crowd,” the KPCC president explained.

He said AICC general secretary, Digvijay Singh, AICC secretary, Dr Chellaram and other important central leaders will be invited to the event. “It would be difficult to invite AICC vice-president, Rahul Gandhi at this juncture as the programme date is very close but Mr Gandhi would be invited for other programmes in the days to come. We are yet to finalise a programme to invite him to the state,” he added.
