K T Rama Rao flies to US for investments

KTR is visiting Washington, New York, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, and Dallas

Hyderabad: Telangana IT minister K.T. Rama Rao flew to the United States on Tuesday to get investments in IT and other sectors besides financial support for Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s pet projects like Telangana Water Grid, Mission Kakatiya and others.

During his two-week tour, Mr Rama Rao has a hectic schedule promoting Hyderabad and Telangana as the world’s best investment destination, offer of world’s best industrial policy and single window clearance in a fortnight for any entrepreneur planning to set up units including land, power, all clearances and a huge trained workforce.

Mr Rama Rao, who studied and worked in the US, wants to remove doubts over red tapism and the fear of power cuts that kept away many NRIs.

“My two-week trip to the US is to seek investments for Telangana. I will convince NRIs, particularly those from Telangana and industrialists to come to Hyderabad and invest in the state. I will meet young men and women in the US and explain to them about the new opportunities here ,” Mr Rama Rao said before boarding the flight.

To a question, he said the government is keen on investments from IT corporates and NRIs in IT, Pharma city, Aerospace, Heavy Industry, Film City and other mega projects taken up by the state government.

Hyderabad is a great cosmopolitan city. We are No 1 in Pharma sector. ITIR project is coming up. We have all the basic facilities for any entrepreneur to setup units.

The era of power cuts is also over and we now have sufficient power supply for the industries. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has already formulated new industrial policy which will ensure quick service to investors, he added.

KTR also plans to promote the two mega multi crore projects Telangana Water Grid which provides tap water to every home and Mission Kakatiya, the revival of age old water tanks in the State.

Hyderabad is already a destination for IT companies. It has earned good name in the IT sector the world over. We will invite more companies to step up base so that employment opportunities grow.

Government jobs are limited hence we have to tap private enterprise. I will meet representatives of Google, Microsoft, NASSCOM and others, he added.

KTR is visiting Washington, New York, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, and Dallas, visit IT and other companies and participate in locally arranged programmes. Bringing NRIs from Telangana one platform is also on the cards.
