Mumbai: Anurag Kashyap’s 2015 blockbuster starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar may be titled ‘Bombay Velvet’, but that hasn’t stopped the cast from exploring other states. The team along with its star cast and director have headed to Goa for a special ‘invite only’ promotional event for the movie.

As part of the promotional event in Goa the team decided to have a small bash with the guests (journalists from Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Ahmedabad) on Monday evening. This is a first for a Bollywood film. Most marketing teams always stick to the mundane promotional strategies, but this time team Bombay Velvet has surprised us with this new method of engaging with the media.

The entire team came together including Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, Vivaan Shah, Satyadeep Misra, Siddartha Basu, Vikaramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl. Even music composer Amit Trivedi, and writers Vasan Bala and S.Thanikachalam made it to the event.

The party was none other than Ranbir’s brain child. The actor thought it would be a fun idea for everyone to get to know each other, and the party would help the scribes understand the movie in a better way. At the party Ranbir was seen dancing to tracks like ‘Baby Doll’ and ‘Tai Tai Phis’.

Singer Neeti Mohan, who is Anushka's voice in the film took to the stage and enthralled the audience with her powerful voice. Everyone present at the venue gave her a standing ovation, which brought the singer to tears.

The guests present at the event were also given a special sneak peek preview of seven minutes of footage from the film, which will hit the big screens on May 15a

'Bombay Velvet', based on historian Gyan Prakash's book 'Mumbai Fables', narrates the story of how the city in 60s became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and jazz music. Ranbir Kapoor has been basking in the spotlight for his ‘incredible’ performance as Johnny Balraj, an ordinary man who goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a 'Big Shot' in Bombay city.
