Major fire breaks out at RK Foods factory

A preliminary investigation indicates the fire was caused by short circuit

Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at the RK Foods factory in the Katedan area of Rajendranagar in the early hours of Sunday due to a short circuit.

The fire call was received by the Chandulal Baradari team and they along with the Rapid Response Team reached the spot immediately. They were joined by water tenders from Moghalpura, Rajendra-nagar and Gowliguda.

“It took six hours to put out the fire. A preliminary investigation indicates the fire was caused by short circuit. However, a deeper probe will be taken up once the debris is cleared,” said Mr Suresh Reddy, the station fire officer at Chandulal Baradari.

No causalities or injuries were reported. However, property worth around Rs 7-8 lakh was destroyed in the mishap, the station fire officer said.

The backend integration with the Water Board is yielding good results as fire tenders now need not go back to their bases to refill water.

The initiative of the traffic police to provide way to fire tenders is also helping in reducing the time required to reach fire spots, Mr Suresh Reddy said.
