IPL 8, DD vs KXIP: Six players to watch out for

Delhi Daredevils meet Kings XI Punjab at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Friday

New Delhi: New players emerge out of every season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and 2015 has been no different. When Delhi Daredevils take on Kings XI Punjab, the spotlight will be on the cricketers who stole the show in the first half of the tournament.

Let’s find out.

DD

Shreyas Iyer: One of the finds of the season. The Mumbaikar can steady an innings as well as go for the shots when needed. An absolute delight to watch. He has been opening the innings for Delhi and scored 227 runs in seven matches.

Imran Tahir: He has developed over the last one year and is currently the joint Purple Cap holder with Ashish Nehra in the tournament with 13 wickets from seven matches with best figures of 4/28.

JP Duminy: The new captain of Delhi has been leading from the front. An able all-rounder, he has 220 runs and seven wickets with best figures of 4/17. A complete match-winner.

KXIP

Sandeep Sharma: He has been swinging the ball well and the batsmen upfront have been uncomfortable dealing with it. The youngster, hence, bagged nine wickets in seven matches with best figures of 4/25. Terrific with the new ball.

Anureet Singh: Maintaining the parity with Sharma is Anureet. Ten wickets, seven matches with best figures of 3/23. These two have provided sheen to the Punjab bowling attack and are worth watching.

Virender Sehwag: He has been quiet for sometime now. Sehwag saves his best for the last, like he did in 2014 when he slammed the ton in the later stages against Chennai Super Kings.
