Intermediate results out, girls get more than boys yet again

Telangana scores 61.41 per cent in Intermediate Second Year exams

Hyderabad/Karimnagar: Students of Sri Chaitanya Narayana Educational institutions scored big in the Intermediate Second Year exams that were held for the first time in Telangana. Mohammed Abdul Muneeb, L. Nikhil Reddy, A. Swathi and Keerthana, all students of Sri Chaitanya Narayana institute scored 990 marks.

The pass percentage this year was higher than the previous years at 61.41 per cent. According to the results released on Monday, almost half of all students who appeared for the exams scored more than 75 per cent.

In the BIPC stream, Sri Chaitanya Narayana student A. Priya, top-scored with 990, followed by K. Sree Kruthi and Namrata Saha with 989 and P. Ram Tharun Reddy and B. Mary Manisha with 988 out of 1,000 marks. Eight students of Sri Chaitanya Narayana scored above 988, 18 scored about 987 and 64 scored more than 985 marks.

A. Anumithra, also from the same institution, scored 985 in the MEC stream while B. Lakshmi Sirisha scored 980. M. Lakshmi Sai Jyothi, L. Raashi and S. Rana Prathap scored 979 marks each in the MEC stream.

As many as six students in the state scored the highest marks of 991 out of a maximum of 1000 cumulatively in both First and Second Years. Nizamabad girl K. Sushma topped the BIPC stream with 991 while five students, two of them girls, topped in the MPC stream. K. Tejasvi from Ranga Reddy district, K. Sai Krishna from Karimnagar, K. Rachana from Karimnagar, M. Nagaraju from Khammam and D. Sai Vinit Kumar from Khammam, all scored 991 out 1,000 marks, emerging as the toppers.

Rachana, the daughter of a farmer from Karimnagar, said her father had high hopes for her education.

Another student, Samakka from Khammam, who is the daughter of a daily wage worker working in the Girijan Cooperative Society, scored 916 marks.

As has been the norm, girls outshone boys in the exams with a higher pass percentage. Almost 67 per cent of the girls who appeared for the exams passed while boys recorded a pass percentage of 56.

About 3.78 lakh students had appeared for the Second Year Intermediate exams. Chief Minister Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao congratulated the students, especially those from government residential educational societies.

Students of Tribal Welfare Residential Society obtained a phenomenal pass percentage of 84.3. Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts recorded the highest pass percentage in the state with 75 per cent and 64 per cent respectively while Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar lagged behind with the lowest pass percentages of 50 and 52 respectively.

Farmer’s daughter tops inter exams

Although the agrarian community is facing a severe crisis, small farmer Kavva Linga Reddy is a happy man. His daughter Rachana has topped the Intermediate II MPC exam this year. Rachana, Mr Reddy’s eldest daughter, scored 991 marks out of 1,000. She is a student of Alphores Junior College. Mr Linga Reddy belongs to Lingapur village in Shankarapatnam mandal, his wife Swaroopa is a homemaker. Mr Reddy owns five acres of agriculture land. He says he earns around '1.5 lakh per annum. Rachana said that her achievement gave some relief to the family, particularly her father. The top ranker wants to become an IAS officer.

She said she had secured a GPA of 9.8 in Class X. She thanked her teachers and the management of the Alphores Junior College.
