CPM to contest Aruvikkara by poll

This is the first time that Pillai would be sharing the stage with LDF leaders

Thiruvananthapuram: LDF state committee on Saturday decided to field CPM candidate for the forthcoming Aruvikkara by elections. The decision was taken at the meeting here today which was presided over by Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan.

The LDF decided to intensify its stir against Finance Minister K M Mani in connection with the bar bribe issue. As part of the stir, the LDF would lay siege to the secretariat again on May 7. The opposition decided to include Kerala Congress B Chairman R Balakrishna Pilai in the forthcoming agitation. This is the first time that Pillai would be sharing the stage with LDF leaders in the anti Mani agitation.

The LDF alleged that the government decision to not to probe allegations of bribe against Excise Minister K Babu was aimed at derailing the probe into the case.

The LDF also decided to continue with its efforts to bring back the former allies like RSP and JDU as apart of the its plan to expand its base in the state and strengthen left and democratic sections.
