Constitute Cauvery management board, Stalin tells Centre

Stalin remarked, appealing to the Centre to form the CMB is to ensure justice to farmers
Chennai: DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin has urged the Union government to immediately constitute the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) and ensure justice to Tamil Nadu farmers.
Describing as ‘irresponsible’ and ‘shocking’ the statement of BJP national secretary Muralidhar Rao that “Centre has only a facilitator role in forming the CMB”, Stalin said the February 19, 2013, order of the Cauvery Tribunal mandated that the Centre constitute the CMB simultaneously with the gazette notification of the final award of the tribunal.
“It has been more than two years since that order and the central government is still dragging its feet over creating the board. People of Tamil Nadu are suffering while Karnataka takes unilateral decisions jeopardizing their interests,” Stalin posted on his Facebook page.
Under these circumstances, Rao’s statement is irresponsible and shocking, Stalin remarked, appealing to the Centre to form the CMB as it has been mandated to do, to ensure justice to farmers of Tamil Nadu. The DMK treasurer also urged the ruling AIADMK to take immediate action.
