There is no need of another Madhuri: Madhuri Dixit Nene

Actress speaks on her comfort with all genres of dance, her favourite artistes
The original dancing diva Madhuri Dixit-Nene feels that in Bollywood, having a classical dance base is very important.“During the competition scene with Karisma in Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Shiamak Davar was the choreographer… our steps included jazz and bits of other contemporary dancing styles. And though I was doing this for the first time, I enjoyed the dance. Also, since I am a trained classical dancer, it was easy for me to pick up the new steps. I had a great time.”
Talking about another favourite scene of hers, she says, the Dola Re Dola number with Aishwarya Rai was another great sequence. “We enjoyed doing the dance number because Sanjay Leela Bhansali would ask us to enter one by one at times, and we also had our duet entry. The trolley shot was the icing on the cake to the song,” she says.“Usually, I do not like to do the same steps. I would tell Saroj Khan, ‘we are doing so many songs together, please give me different steps’,” she adds.
About the senior artistes she admires, Madhuri says, “I admire Vyjayanthimala and Waheeda Rehman who were trained classical dancers and they had taken dancing to another level. I also admire Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire. Will we ever see another Madhuri Dixit? “I do not think people should be looking for another ‘Madhuri’. Every era has its own star and people consider that person to be the star of the era. Someone will definitely come to the forefront and I am sure that one star will make loads of difference.”
