Swedish children honour Mary Kom

Every judge member on that panel was between the ages of six to 19

Omang Kumar’s Mary Kom biopic has won an award of a peculiar kind. The film was honoured at the Stockholm International Film Festival Junior, in Sweden where the judges on the panel were not adults, but children instead. Every member on that panel was between the ages of six to 19.

Delighted by the honour given to his film, the director said, “To be appreciated so much in a country where Indian cinema is not so popular, is indeed a proud moment for all of us and India. We had three screenings in Sweden and I was supposed to come back when I came to know that the jury had awarded us the highest honour at the festival. It’s called the Bronze Horse Award. When I found out that the jury was made up of children, I was even happier because that means it came for the heart. They just loved the film and they loved Priyanka.”

We hear that the children liked Priyanka’s performance so much that they’re hoping the actress makes a quick visit to the country at the earliest.
