Hyderabad: Most beneficiaries of the Rs 2,060-crore incentive arrears for industries, released by the Andhra Pradesh government, are political leaders and big industrialists. Companies owned by some Andhra Pradesh ministers, former ministers, MPs, MLAs and other political leaders and their families have received crores in arrears.

According to a list available with Deccan Chronicle, the beneficiaries include agriculture minister Prattipati Pulla Rao, former minister T.G. Venkatesh (TD), MP S.P.Y. Reddy, Vanka Ravindranath (YSR Congress) and Mandava Prabhakar Rao of Nuziveedu Seeds. The government has released Rs 1,400 crore for the first list of industries and Rs 660 crore for the second list of industries.

The arrears of incentives pertain to power and sales tax since 2004. Most of the industries are of spinning mills, cement, granite and textile. According to the government, the sanction of arrears to industries will give a boost to the sector. However, some political leaders have made a neat bundle due to the government’s decision.
