Hyderabad: Promising Telangana folk artistes and writers that their services would be utilised to rebuild Telangana State, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday said statehood would not have come about without their efforts.
Addressing artistes who were absorbed in government service recently, Mr Rao said 530 artistes and writers had been appointed and more are in the pipeline. He said the government would issue them health insurance cards.
Mr Rao said that though several people and organisations had deserted the Telangana movement, folk artistes and writers had persisted till the new state was created.
He invited the artistes and writers to stay in government guest houses and bungalows during their visits to districts — a facility enjoyed by ministers and other public representatives — as the government feels they need to be honoured.
Complementing Manakonduru MLA Rasamayi Balakishen, the Telangana cultural ambassador, for his work, Mr Rao said the government would use the services of the artistes to get maximum impact for the developmental and welfare activities.
Mr Rao named the Government Art Gallery at Madhapur after famous artist Kapu Rajaiah; the Kalabhavan that will come up in Madhapur will be named after Oggukatha artiste Midde Ramulu.
Listing out the achievements of the government, Mr Rao said there would no no power cuts even during summer.
From next year, farmers would get nine hour of free power in the daylight hours. He said Mission Kakatiya, Drinking Water Grid, planting of 300 crore saplings were programmes that needed wide publicity to get the people involved and folk artistes and writers could ensure it.
