Job fraud: Visa agent cheats maid

Woman sold into prostitution racket in Dammam
Hyderabad: A visa agent allegedly pushed a 30-year-old woman from Rein Bazaar into prostitution in Dammam. The culprit, Mirza Abed Ali, took money from the woman and her husband for a visa and assured them the job of a maidservant before sending her to Dammam a month ago.
However, the victim, who realised that she has been sold to someone, called up her husband, and he approached the south zone police. The police has started efforts to rescue the victim and has launched a manhunt for the visa agent.
The victim’s husband said the agent had assured visas for both of them to go to Saudi Arabia. However, afterwards he gave only a single visa to the wife and sent her to Dammam. “As per the complaint she left for Dammam on March 11 and reached there the same day. After reaching there she realised that she has to do much more than household work.
She could inform her husband about her problems only after many days as there were many restrictions on her,” a police official said.
After the victim’s husband contacted the Rein Bazar police on Friday night, the cops tried to contact the victim on the phone.
“We talked to her on the phone but she was not able to talk for more than a few minutes. She was crying and she said she was being harassed. She also said she wanted to come back,” said police inspector G. Ramesh.
The police is yet to find out where the fraudster Abed runs his office. The police has booked a case and police is examining if he had cheated anybody else. The cops said they are trying to bring back the victim with the help of some NRIs working in Dammam.
