MA student from Mysuru bags 15 medals, 3 prizes

She wants to follow her passion and take up PhD in philosophy

Mysuru: In an era where the youth today are not at all attracted to subjects like Philosophy, here is a girl who has not only chosen the subject to pursue her Post graduation (MA), but has also secured the highest number of medals, 15 (12 gold) and prizes (three), in the 95th Convocation of the University of Mysuru, which was held here on Friday.

With the entire world chasing lucrative jobs, this high-calibre lady doesn’t want to hold a high profile job. She has given up her jobs with noted MNCs, including IBM and she wants to follow her passion and take up PhD in philosophy and dreams of becoming a Philosopher.

“Earning my livelihood is not the only criteria in life, I have a decent job and I work as a Secretary in a Music Trust, but I would want to follow my passion, to tell the world, that Philosophy is the only way to realise one’s goal and know the real purpose and value of life. Philosophy also teaches one to go in depth in one’s chosen path, which would help one achieve excellence and success in one’s chosen field,” says Shruthi Krishna Bhat.

Shruthi Krishna Bhat, 33, is the only daughter of Mr Krishna Bhat, retired AGM of DCC bank, and Ms Lakshmi Bhat, a Hindustani Vocalist. A native of Shirasi and a resident of Rajajinagar Bengaluru, Shruthi had pursued her education till class 10th in Government schools in villages including Haliyala, Siddapura and Banavasi in Kannada Medium SSLC.

She stood first in the entire State when she was in class 10th, scoring 97.1 percent. It was only when she reached PUC that she joined MES college in Bengaluru, where she did her PUC in Commerce, and BCom. She did her MCom from Bengaluru University.
