Hyderabad: A tea vendor allegedly raped a nine-year-old girl at the Old Mud Fort area in Kharkhana. The culprit and the victim’s father were friends and he used to frequently visit their house. Police said that some days ago he took the victim studying in Class III to his house and raped her.
The accused, Maruthi alias Maroti Teje Rao, 31, sells tea on his bicycle and came into contact with the victim’s father who is a driver.
A few days ago when the victim’s father was absent Teje Rao went to her house. Her mother who is a maid was at home but was busy. Seeing the victim alone he took her out to buy chocolates and biscuits.
“Her mother who knew the accused well allowed her to go with him. The accused took her to his house and sexually exploited her. The incident came to light when the victim returned home and informed her mother about the heinous act,” a police official from Kharkhana said.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim's mother a case was booked under Section 376 for rape and under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The accused was arrested and remanded on Wednesday. The girl was sent to the hospital for medical examination.
