Narendra Modi steals show with MSG-like event in Canada

‘What could not be accomplished in 42 years, I have done in 10 months’

Toronto: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Earlier, the country was known as ‘scam-India’. We want it to be known as ‘skilled-India’,” he said in yet another attack on the previous regime during which scams tumbled out as the gathering lapped up what he said with cheers.

The reception hosted by Candaian PM Stephen Harper at the Ricoh Coliseum was attended by a huge number of Indians, who have settled in Canada for decades, and the event was a replica of an address Mr Modi made at the Madison Square in New York during his visit there last year.

Emphasising that he wants the youth to be job creators not job seekers, he said, “80 crore youth population, 80 crore dreams, 160 crore strong hands. What can we not achieve?”

Mr Modi thanked Mr Harper and said, “My experience of working with Canada has always been very good right from the time when I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.”

Mr Modi is the first Indian PM to undertake standalone bilateral visit to Canada in 42 years. “What could not be accomplished in 42 years, I have done in 10 months,” he said.
