Government has provided codes to provide 4G services: RJIL

RJIL’s total equivalent spectrum footprint has increased from 597.6 MHz to 751.1 MHz

New Delhi: Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd on April 17 said it plans to roll out 4G services through an "integrated ecosystem" using three frequency bands and the government has already allotted it various codes needed for providing the services. The RIL subsidiary had last year announced that it would launch 4G services in a phased manner this year.

"RJIL plans to provide seamless 4G services using LTE in 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2300MHz bands through an integrated ecosystem. Mobile Switching Centre Code (MSC), Mobile Country Code (MCC) and Mobile Network Code (MNC) for mobile access services have been allotted," the company said in a statement.

A mobile country code is used in combination with a mobile network code to uniquely identify a mobile phone operator using the various communication network platforms. RJIL is the only private player with pan-India broadband wireless access (BWA) spectrum. It also acquired spectrum in 800 MHz and 1800 MHz in auctions held in 2014 and 2015.

"RJIL’s total equivalent spectrum footprint has increased from 597.6 MHz to 751.1 MHz (including uplink and downlink), strengthening its position as the largest holder of liberalised spectrum," the company said. The Mukesh Ambani owned firm said it is setting up a pan India telecom network to provide high speed services in key domains such as education, healthcare, security, financial services, government-citizen interfaces and entertainment.

RJIL said it has made significant progress in building LTE business, including infrastructure, sales, distribution, applications and content. "It is working with strategic partners who have committed significant resources, knowhow and global talent to support deployment and testing activities currently underway," it said.

The company said it has launched trial wi-fi hot spots across India and is in the process of entering agreements with various state and local authorities to provide Wi-Fi services.
