Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is set to get elected unopposed once again as the TRS president, once nomination papers are filed on April 20.

He is likely to be the only one to file the papers for the top post.

Home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, who is overseeing the party’s organisational polls, announced the election schedule for the post of party president, on Sunday.

He said if more than one nomination is filed, the election would take place on April 24 at the party plenary at LB Stadium.

As per party norms, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao will himself file the papers or party leaders will propose him for the party president’s post.

Mr Narasimha Reddy said nominations will be received till up to 2 pm on April 20 and scrutiny will take place the next day.

The last date for withdrawal of papers would be April 23.

“Anyone can file papers for the president’s post; we will conduct the elections in a most democratic way,” Mr Narasimha Reddy replied when asked who other than the Chief Minister could file papers.

Mr Narasimha Reddy also announced the schedule for the election of district party committees, with state Ministers as election in-charges for the districts.

The elections will be held on April 15 for Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam and Ranga Reddy districts and April 16 for Medak, Nizamabad, Hyderabad, Mahbubnagar and Warangal.
