KCR finds doctors absent on surprise visit to Fever Hospital

Rap spent about half an hour in hospital and also spoke to patients in the general ward

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao made a surprise inspection of the government-run Fever Hospital at Nallakunta on Saturday morning and found that hospital superintendent Dr K. Shanker and senior doctors were not present. A few senior professors and junior doctors were present in the hospital.

Sources said Mr Rao was very upset at the absence of the seniors and asked for a report. Earlier this week, Mr Rao had brought up the issue of absentee doctors during a six-hour review meet. Doctors said the superintendent was away in Kerala. Asked about the thin attendance, sources told this newspaper that most of the staff was not around as it was a second Saturday.

Mr Rao spent about half an hour in the hospital and also spoke to the patients in the general ward.

A junior doctor said, “The CM was very unhappy about the unhygienic conditions in the ward and the manner in which the patients were left to fend for themselves. He spoke to a few patients and made a note of their complaints.”
