Amitabh Bachchan conferred Padma Vibhushan by President

Padma Vibhushan is the second highest civilian award

Mumbai: Bollywood’s Living legend Amitabh Bachchan has one more reason to smile today, after meeting the Health Minister JP Nadda on Tuesday. The actor who is currently in the capital received the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award on Wednesday morning at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

President Pranab Mukherjee confered the Padma Vibhushan to Bachchan. His entire family was in attendance including son Abhishek Bachchan, Aiswarya, his granddaughter Aaradhya, wife Jaya, daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda with husband Nikhil Nanda and grandchildren Navya and Agastya.

The day before the big event Big B posted about the same on his blog. He wrote, “As I close for the day, it is so heartening to have the family coming together for tomorrow’s investiture .. Abhishek who is shooting in Dubai, shall come in early morning tomorrow … Aishwarya and Aaradhya have just landed from Mumbai .. Navya and Agastya have come home from London school, for their Easter break and all shall be present to witness this moment… and of course NIkhil and Shweta and Jaya .. all shall be with me in that historic hall for the morrow.” (sic)

The actor was conferred with the Padma Shri award in 1989 and the Padma Bushan award in 2001 for his tremendous contribution to Indian cinema.
